The Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Welfare Board, Department of Labour, Government of Manipur, shall receive
(i) money/cess collected and collected and transferred under the Building and Other Construction Workers (RE&CS)Act,1996;
(ii) grant and loans, etc. made by the Central/State Government, if any; and
(iii) monthly contribution made by the registered Building and Other Construction Workers and credit the same in favour of the
Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Fund created for the said purpose. The Welfare Board shall also execute every
payment and disbursements as may be provided under Section 22 of the Building & Other Construction Workers
(Regulation of Employment & Conditions of Service) Act, 1996.
The Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board was constituted on 03.04.2010 u/S.18 of the Building and Other Construction Workers
(RE&CS)Act,l996 and again re-constituted on Dt.01.07.2010, 03.09.2012, 16.12.2015 and 24.05.2017. The Head-quarter office of the Board is now
functioning inside the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West, Manipur. At present, the Deputy Labour Commissioner, Manipur is the
Chief Executive Officer and Member Secretary of the Board.
The Board extends the following Benefits to registered Building & Other Construction Workers:-
Immediate assistance in case of accident to the beneficiary; Pension to the beneficiary building worker who has completed sixty years;
Loans or advance for construction of a house; Premium of Group Insurance Scheme of beneficiary; Financial assistance for education of
children of beneficiary; Medical expenses for treatment of major ailments of a beneficiary; Maternity benefit and Health Benefit,
Natural death relief; Health Care Insurance and Skill Development Training.
